Synopsis: A coming-of-age story for 17-year-old Suzume Iwato, who lives with her aunt in a quiet town in Kyushu, Japan. One day, on her way to school, she encounters a mysterious young man named Sota Munakata who is looking for old ruins. Suzume follows him to an abandoned hot spring resort where she finds a peculiar door standing alone amidst the ruins. As if drawn by an unseen force, Suzume reaches out to the door, causing a chain of events that will soon threaten all of Japan.
